Eco-sustainable lighting design

Design, sustainability and new lights. Ingredients, which are becoming increasingly present in all places dedicated to relax and well-being. Whether you are staying in a typical 'maso' farmhouse or a luxury hotel, situated either in the Mediterranean or overseas, lighting often plays a fundamental role in holiday environments and the impacts on energy consumption tend to be less severe.

Events

Milan's Triennale. Waiting for LED 2010

A preview of the award-winning works will be displayed during the contest's second edition from 22 to 26 September, before the official International Light Festival of Milan opens in December. Works include the projects by professionals, students from the major design schools and great international artists invited to join the event.

Calatrava in New York City

Santiago Calatrava designed the scenic aspects of the five performances given by the New York City Ballet at the end of June and it is the first time that a great designer of stations, bridges and architecture has consolidated work that has perhaps somewhat less to do with engineering than his usual projects.

London. We light London!

Lighting designers explain how London is being lit: the project, which was developed late last year, consists of an initiative conceived by a group of PLDA members, resulting into a video and, above all, into a starting point for discussions on how to reproduce the project in other urban centres that decide to choose the magic of light for their makeover.

Lights in historic town centres: a great opportunity

The "Unesco Historic Centres Programme" is a complex and ambitious project for the redevelopment of the historic neighbourhoods of the city of Naples, which includes a number of interventions to improve technological systems, urban furnishing and socio-cultural redevelopment plans. A great opportunity to re-think the city's street lighting system.

Protagonists

Lightgraff by Guillaume J. Plisson

A meeting with the French group specialised in light graffiti, a less invasive alternative to the notorious spray-paint graffiti, which is such a major concern for the managers of large urban centres.
